Bill Lockyer Endorses Swalwell's Bid For Re-Election Next Year

Convention last April. PHOTO/Shane Bond
CONGRESS | 15TH DISTRICT | Bill Lockyer's imprimatur is not what it once was, but the state treasurer still has loads of money and liberal contacts in the 15th Congressional District. On Monday, Rep. Eric Swalwell announced Lockyer has endorsed his re-election campaign next year over State Sen. Ellen Corbett.

Swalwell alerted his social media followers of the news, adding, Lockyer, a Hayward resident, would join him to grow the economy and rebuild the middle class.

The endorsement is a big get for Swalwell, if not, because it denies Corbett, a long-time local Democratic colleague of Lockyer, from receiving the same support and political implications attached. Corbett and Lockyer both cut their teeth in San Leandro politics and enjoyed lengthy careers in the State Legislature. It also bolsters doubts the party is not ready to bolt from an incumbent congressman in favor of another Democrat.

Lockyer's reputation, though, has been greatly sullied since the tragic fall of his wife, Nadia Lockyer, whose drug and alcohol addition took her from Alameda County supervisor to her resignation and incarceration last year. Nadia Lockyer recently appeared in an interview with a local news station to tell her side of the story, which included reiterating a claim her husband suggested she die as she struggled with addiction. Bill Lockyer initially sought a divorce, but both now say they have reconciled. However, Nadia Lockyer told KGO-TV she now resides in Long Beach.

In recent weeks, the race in the 15th District between Swalwell and Corbett is showing signs of heating up. Last week, Corbett took grasp of the high-profile case of a Castro Valley assisted-care home shut down by the state that somehow left 14 elderly patients without attention for two days. Corbett announced plans to offer a bill next year in the Legislature to protect patients against such occurrences in the future.

Undaunted, Swalwell asked residents to donate clothing and supplies for the 14 unfortunate seniors. The clothing drive even netted a television.

NOTE: During the 2010 Alameda County supervisor's race, Corbett publicly denied she had ever given Nadia Lockyer her backing. Lockyer had boasted of the endorsement during a May 2010 candidate's forum in Fremont. Corbett never made an endorsement in the race in which Lockyer won handily.

1. If I were Eric Swalwell, I would not get overly enthusiastic about getting Bill Lockyer's endorsement, since Bill "The Big Windbag" Lockyer is within in a few months of being totally exposed for the complete and totally unprincipled phony and world class hypocrite he is.

2. As far as Nadia Lockyer, in other words Bill's wife, now supposedly residing in Long Beach, since Northern California and Southern California do not particularly like each other, I think one of the best ways for us Northern Californians to get our revenge on Southern California would be not to stop by sending only Nadia to Southern California, but to instead ship ALL of our politicians to Southern California.

Does Swawell realize that Bil Lockyer is a buffoon? ... birds of a feather

Very interesting. Stark and Lockyer used to be rivals. Still, surprised that Lockyer would dump Ellen- she stayed out of supervisors race.

Because she didn't live in the district.

Hello?????

Concerning the comment of 3:41PM which refers to Bill Lockyer as a buffoon, I suggest that from now on we refer to him not as Buffoon Lockyer but instead as BillFOON Lockyer.

And for those who want to be more formal when addressing him, since Bill is only his nickname, and his actual first name is William, you can refer to him as WillFOON Lockyer or as William "THE BUFFOON" Lockyer.

Swalwell = flip-flop. He stands for nothing principled.

Hayward troll who is anti-union has been blasting Bill Lockyer and calling him names on post after post. Now since he likes Swalwell he claims it was quite a feat. Have you no shame? You and Swalwell are quite a pair of no principled individuals. It proves a point that you both like to flip-flop if it suits your purpose. If you are not a staffer, you certainly a stooge!

Bill Lockyer is the ultimate and most extreme example of a hypocrite and sleazy phony.

For example, Lockyer pretends to be horrified by those who engage in human trafficking, and also pretends that he thinks that those who do are engaging in the very sleaziest form imaginable of inhuman, intolerable, and outrageous criminal activity. However, Lockyer went out of his way to protect and put the fix in for a certain major trafficker in undocumented aliens who was an important source of large election campaign contributions and under the table bribes.

In other words that major trafficker in undocumented aliens, and who I will refer to as MLL, provided so much in large election campaign contributions and huge under the table bribes, that therefore he had no problem getting plenty of politicians in such places as San Diego, Sacramento, Washington DC, and the Bay area, and including Bill Lockyer, to go along with the charade that supposedly he was a legitimate businessman.

In fact if Bill Lockyer was the DA, he would probably be very aggressive in going after and prosecuting low ranking and little people who were not politically connected and also did not provide election campaign contributions or under the table bribes, and therefore the newspaper reporters would be extremely impressed by the supposedly great job he was doing controlling and prosecuting crime. However he would not do anything major to bother the big boys, the politically connected, and anyone who provided serious money to the members of his political party.

In other words, Bill Lockyer is the ultimate example of a phony, a demagogue, a charlatan, and a parasite, and no matter how much PR he engages in as he pretends he is one of the good guys.

Its not like the Stark-Lockyer feud goes back 30 years. After all Bill didn't back Bob Knox for county supervisor in 1984 over Jeffrey Peter Stark because he thought Pete was about to retire and trying to set his son up to succeed him, and Bill viewed the congressional seat as rightfully his. Oh wait a minute, he did. And its not like the January 460s will show Pete donating significantly in the upcoming race. Oh wait a minute..

Tremendous coup by Swalwell? The Lockyer name is tarnished. Bill is sitting on tons of campaign cash yet has decided not to run because he knows he's the laughing stock.

Yeah this scores nothing for Swalwell

Ellen Corbett has no one to blame, but herself for this. Stark might have been good when he was younger, but he became very rude and imbursement to himself and the office as he aged. He should have left gracefully.
Ellen must have seen all the stories on the news about how rude he was being to his constituents. Swalwell had the smarts to run against Stark cause he knew it was time for Stark to go. Swalwell won the race because voters had enough!! This household will be voting Swalwell.

Swalwell won't be able to run against Stark in 2014, no matter how hard he tries. He will find attacking a caring, compassionate, competent women will hurt, rather than help. Ellen Corbett will win because she is a much stronger candidate and won't make the mistakes Stark did. Bye Eric.

Eric takes the prize in 2014.

The constituents of the 15th congressional district win, and you lose Space HO.

Corbett made a BIG MISTAKE, she didn't run against Stark when she knew he was losing it.
She did nothing while in office in San Leandro, but pick out new office furniture for city hall.

3:39, thank you for telling it like it is.

Oh yeah!

Swalwell won't be able to run against Stark in 2014, no matter how hard he tries. He will find attacking a caring, compassionate, competent women will hurt, rather than help. Ellen Corbett will win because she is a much stronger candidate and won't make the mistakes Stark did. Bye Eric.

According to an article on the website (sfgate.com) of this morning's SF Chronicle, Pete "The Stark Ranting Raving Mad Lunatic" has decided to not merely endorse Ellen Corbett in an election battle between her and Eric Swalwell, but furthermore he has stated he is also going to spend a lot of his money and effort in trying to help her defeat Swalwell.

However if Stark really wants Corbett to defeat Swalwell, then he would be much better off not providing her with any of his "help" and "assistance," and including since it is hard to imagine very many voters would be more favorably impressed by learning that a candidate they were thinking of voting for had the backing of the very senile, extremely erratic, and total nutcase Pete Stark.

In fact it would have been much better for almost everybody if Pete Stark at least ten years ago, in other words when he had started to get senile, had not only totally retired from politics, but also quietly just faded away, and rather than him trying to stay involved.

In fact if I were Ellen Corbett my position would be, With "friends" like Stark who needs enemies.

Since Eric has authored no significant legislation in Washington, I'll take Ellen Corbett who has authored significant legislation to help the environment, women, consumers, seniors, children, education, etc.

Bill's endorsement won't help Swalwell much as Ellen is a much better candidate than Stark and she is well liked in her Senate District. She has pulled upset after upset in her career and when she beats Swalwell I'm not sure you could even call it an upset. I know she has helped us in the past and we will be voting for Ellen Corbett next year, even though we voted for Eric last year.

Dorcas, you never voted for the congressman in your entire life. You don't live in the district. You have always volunteered on old man's Stark's campaigns. Finally, you're off your meds again and smoking the bad stuff.

Eric going to kick that fatt ass where it hurts!

Anon above: What the hell are you talking about? Are you off your meds? You make no sense. It seems you are in need of some help.

Well, the Space HO's at it again.

Continue to tune out her bloated bitch ass.

The only person we are tuning out is you 1:58. What an idiot. Why waste our time? ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I'm pretty sure 5:04 meant to say 2:01 is wasting our time. The rest of us don't even know what 2:01 is talking about.

No. I think she got it right. We're definitely tuning out 12:58, 5:04, and 5:44=One in the same!

Eric is not running against Stark this time with his irascible temperament and personality. Ellen Corbett is a much more formidable foe and an extremely likable and capable politician. She is very likely to win as she has helped many people in this area over the years. I know our family will be supporting her.

Since Eric has changed his mind on so many issues how can anyone trust what he says or does. I'm a Senior and will be supporting Ellen Corbett in 2014 because I trust her more even though I disagree with her on some issues.

We'll be with Eric Swalwell.

Always for the PUBLIC, and fuck the union whores!

According to the Oct 16 article on the Citizen a large part of Swalwell's contributions came from the medical and pharmaceutical vested interest groups. These are the same groups that have been sticking it to the middle class and poor for years. My family and I will be voting for Ellen Corbett next year.

Corbett made a BIG MISTAKE, she didn't run against Stark when she knew he was losing it.
She did nothing while in office in San Leandro, but pick out new office furniture for city hall.

Her time is past and she is old news.

As far as the election goes Swalwell taken so many different
positions on so many topics he can't even remember them all.
Just check out the local papers and the ebcitizen. Tavares
even did more than one article on his flip-flops. He told people
he was for the chained CPI, then he was against it. He told
people he was for changes to Social Security, then he was
against them. Not a good track record on consumer bills after
he took corporate money either. Flip-flop Swalwell is his name.
Can't vote for him because I don't trust him. Vote Ellen Corbett in 2014. You go girl--we love you!

We like our young congressman very much. We believe in today's youth being tomorrow's brightest beckons. No need to consider tired old folks who have no ideas. Always for our youthful folks. Much better thinker and doer.

In presidential elections besides the candidates for president debating each other, normally the candidates for vice president also debate each other.

However since Eric Swalwell and Ellen Corbett do not have the equivalent of a vice presidential candidate running with them, but Bill Lockyer (supporting Swalwell) and Pete Stark (supporting Corbett) are far and away the biggest and most prominent names to take strong positions in favor of the two candidates, therefore we should schedule a debate between Bill "The Liar and Crook" Lockyer and Pete "The Senile and Erratic Idiot" Stark so they can "educate" and "inform" us on who we should vote for a in a Swalwell vs. Corbett matchup.

As to which clothes Stark and Lockyer should wear in such a debate, I will phone Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus and ask them to lend us for one day the person who is in charge of selecting the outfits the clowns wear, so that he can see that Stark and Lockyer are properly dressed for their clown show, er, excuse me, I mean debate.

I agree Ellen Corbett in 2014. She is a much better politician an has done more for Seniors, children, women, the environment, consumers, working families, teachers, nurses, and on and on.. Swalwell has accomplished nothing on the Dublin city council or since he's been in Congress.

It doesn't matter who Bill or Pete support. It will come down to Ellen vs. Eric. It will be Ellen's experience and accomplishments in the Senate vs. Eric's inexperience and lack of accomplishments in Congress. This school teacher thinks Ellen Corbett deserves to be elected to Congress next year based on the criteria just enunciated.

I like Ellen too but I don't know if she will win by much. I'll take 52-48 and be immensely happy, and I'll bet Corbett will too. I do agree when Swalwell was on the Dublin City Council he did nothing and so far in Congress also has authored no significant legislation, but has signed on to other Dems bills. Ellen Corbett, by contrast, has authored signifiant legislation benefitting the middle class and lower middle class.

Bill's endorsement won't help Swalwell much as Ellen is a much better candidate than Stark and she is well liked in her Senate District. She has pulled upset after upset in her career and when she beats Swalwell I'm not sure you could even call it an upset.
