Steve Glazer Showing he has Eyes on the Prize in 16th Assembly District Race

ELECTION 2014 | ASSEMBLY | 16TH DISTRICT | Steve Glazer, the moderate Assembly candidate in the 16th District and best bud of Gov. Jerry Brown, should get credit for being aggressive in his early campaigning. Progressives may not appreciate the drum beat of his calls to ban BART workers from ever striking again, but it’s getting him loads of attention. In this case, stripping unions of their most powerful tool doesn’t sound so radical to voters in Contra Costa County and the Tri Valley. In fact, to call one of his opponents, Dublin Mayor Tim Sbranti, a flaming lib would also be incorrect. Although Sbranti possesses strong union ties to the teachers union, any public official representing the Tri Valley are hard-pressed to hang their hat on doing labor any favors. Danville Mayor Newell Arnerich and Catharine Baker are also candidates to replace termed out Assemblymember Joan Buchanan.

Steve Glazer
So, it’s a good hot-button issue for Glazer, a former aide to Brown, to mold an effective early campaign around. Moreover, what’s radical about Glazer’s moves is he is actually taking control of the race through conversation and controversy. That’s way more than can be said for just about every other candidate for any local race in the East Bay right now, outside of the Oakland mayor's race, which ostensibly started last June when Port of Oakland Commissioner Bryan Parker reported a strong early fundraising lead. Otherwise, most candidates are doing their fundraising and cobbling together local support. Some are producing a few dozen corny videos of themselves interviewing local businesses, while some candidates running for re-election this year are either cocksure about their chances or notorious cheapskates.

Tim Sbranti
On Monday, the Contra Costa Times reported another potential ground attack by Glazer, albeit through an acolyte who asserts Sbranti committed campaign finance violations in the transfer of his Dublin mayoral account to his current Assembly war chest. The complaint was filed with the Fair Political Practices Commission, said the CoCoTimes. The FPPC gambit is an often-used campaign smear that will likely be employed several times in other races this year all across the Bay Area. And while this complaint against Sbranti appears a bit convoluted, its efficacy is not what really matters. Instead, it places a dangerous little seed in the minds of low-information voters that Sbranti may or may not be an unsavory politician.

Some deride such tactics as dirty politics. However, it also shows a candidate with an eye on the prize. Do you want the guy who wants it badly to represent you in Sacramento or the guy who thinks he deserves it? I have a maxim that fits situations like this: Good campaigns do not necessarily translate to good legislators, but bad campaigns always portend for poor legislators.

Tim 1st place in primary
Baker 2nd
Steve 3rd
Arnerich last

If that's the case, then Sbranti wins easily in Nov.

Here's a REAL playbook:

Newell Arnerich won't last 'til June. Catherine Baker will hope that party ID will allow her to come in 1st or 2nd with 32% to 34% of the vote ... Tim Sbranti needs 32% minimum to make it to November -- with Arnerich out, 25% won't make the cut ... if Steve Glazer doesn't make it to November, watch him refuse to endorse Sbranti and Baker run on his "Ban BART Strikes" platform ... Sbranti ekes out a victory in November thanks to labor IE with 51% of the vote.

If Glazer comes out on top, watch him "come to Jesus" on labor issues with #CADEM to prevent Baker from eking out a win thanks to #CAGOP IE and risking the 2/3 majority in the assembly.

Sounds good. But we have to drag out the narrative for the next 6 months. I'll steal this in May!

Always for Assemblyman Glazer--who is for the people.

Down with the union whores!

Glazer will come on third in the primary-he has no way to win.

Glazer wins outright. People are with him!

Sbranti gets the highest number of votes in the primary and Glazer would have to beat out the only Republican in the race to come in second. Ain't gonna happen.

Branti is a union whore.

We're voting for the champion of the public--Assemblyman Steve Glazer.

Sbranti wins easily because he will have the Democratic Party and the teachers behind him. He will come in first among the 3 Dems and the only woman and Rep will come in a close second. The best your candidate can do will be a third place in the primary if he can beat the conservative Dem Arnerich. They split the anti union vote and both will be out of the General run-off. This is politics 101.

You can be anti union without being sexist. What a male chauvinist you must be!

Branti is a union whore.

We're voting for the champion of the public--Assemblyman Steve Glazer.

Good luck--we're voting for the winner of the primary and then the general---------Assemblyman Tim Sbranti-----------It's a lock.

You mean the cough, cough, UNION WHORE!

In your wet dreams.

Don't belong to a union but I'm voting for Tim Sbranti. He's the best Mayor and school teacher Dublin ever had.

And they can have him.

This is a Contra Costa County seat and will be staying so. Do the names Joan Buchanan, Guy Houston, and Lynn Leach mean anything to you? That's going back 18 years!

Since the realignment is now Democratic, a good thing, Steve Glazer is the strongest in the field. He takes it easily, especially since he has come down on the right side of an issue that everyone can relate to...BART.

All hail our next assemblyman, the Hon. Steve Glazer!!!

Joan Buchanan will back Tim Sbranti who will be our next Assemblyman. This with the teachers providing walkers and phoners will be more than enough for Tim to win the primary and the General. The Contra Costa and Alameda Labor Councils will also back Sbranti. The conservatives and Republicans will be backing the only woman in the race-Baker. This leaves Glazer 3rd at best. Politics of the top 2 screws him.

Son, I can't dumb it down for you anymore than I already have.

If you don't get it, then you just don't get it.

It's a CONTRA COSTA COUNTY SEAT. That's not changing just because you and the other union whores are shitting in your pants. Your man won't even get past the primary.

Geez. I'm getting too old to have to put up with these dumber than a fence post union whores who don't know shit about the real world. Lord may have the patience for these ass holes but I surely don't.

I agree with the above post and think most of the posts against Tim Sbranti are from the same anti-union troll. Tim comes in first easily in the June election and will face off against Baker. Tim wins the November election as the Democrats ( including Glazer) support him. That's how it plays out for anyone who understands Bay Area politics.

I agree with the 12:56 post not the 1:27 post who jumped in ahead of me. He's obviously a anti-union troll and a sexist too!

And they can have him.

I agree with the above. Alameda County can't possibly win this. No one ever has. Demographics prove that.

Steve wins easily. That's how it works.

Joan Buchanan will back Tim Sbranti who will be our next Assemblyman. This with the teachers providing walkers and phoners will be more than enough for Tim to win the primary and the General. Too bad no one can refute the infallible truth:

Thank you, 2:05. At least somebody here understands politics.

This has ALWAYS been a Contra Costa County seat and will definitely stay a Contra Costa County seat. The stongest of 'those people' is Steve Glazer, who has connected with voters over the BART hostage crisis.

He takes it. Won't even be close, and we get a strong representative who will fight for the public AND has connections to Jerry Brown.

The people win!

Tim Sbranti wins easily because he will have the Democratic Party and the teachers behind him. He will come in first among the 3 Dems and the only woman and Rep will come in a close second. Now, back to reality:

The people and Tim Sbranti wins, and the sexist antiunion troll and the tea party loses again. Take your medicine troll and it may help you control your temper.

Anti union troll who's also a sexist and doesn't understand anything about politics. 2:05 was you---don't lie---you have a unique style that is easy to pick out. It's Sbranti in a easy win.
If you don't believe some of the other posters in this string and their reasons why, just look at his endorsements on his site. A partial list includes Joan Buchanan, Eric Swalwell, Mark DeSaulier, teachers, nurses, etc. All these groups put walkers on the street going door to door.

The Contra Costa Building and Construction Trades Council join a diverse group of individuals and organizations throwing their support behind Sbranti. The California Teachers Association, California Nurses Association, California Faculty Association, Alameda County Building Trades, and Deputy Sheriffs Association of Alameda County along with State Superintendent Tom Torlakson, Congressman Eric Swalwell and AD 16 Incumbent Assemblymember Joan Buchanan have all endorsed Sbranti. See a full list of endorsements here.

Thanks Anon 12:28 Went to Tim Sbranti's site and found this-In spite of the one Glazer supporter who keeps posting, it looks like Tim is a winner and will be our new Assemblyman

I am honored to endorse Tim Sbranti for State Assembly. As an educator, Tim understands the challenges our schools face and the importance of education to improving our economy. As Mayor of Dublin, Tim understands the challenges of our cities of ensuring our quality of life and attracting new businesses. He also understands the need to be fiscally responsible and live within our budget. His knowledge and experience will prove to be valuable assets in the Assembly.

Wow! That's an incredible list so far. Very impressive. I know we were planning on voting for him, but I didn't know he had that much diverse support. It looks like he has conservative, moderate and progressive democrats supporting him. We are registered independent declined to state, but usually vote democratic because the republicans have become too radical.

Wow! That's a huge UNION WHORE list so far. Very unimpressive. This will continue to remain a CONTRA COSTA COUNTY seat, so you shills are truly dreaming your wet dreams.

The true Democrat is our next Assemblyman, the Hon. Steve Glazer, of Contra Costa County.

Six months ago, calling for a ban on BART strikes might have seemed ludicrous. Yet after 20,000 of us took action against the strikes, organized and signed the petition, a recent Bay Area survey showed that the majority of residents now support a ban.

With your help, we have put an issue on the map and built momentum for sensible change.

But as you know, change is never easy. Yesterday in the State Legislature, the BART workers union quickly killed a bill to ban BART strikes. You can see the TV news story here.

The sad fact is that our elected representatives were intimidated and hid under the bed. It’s no wonder they’re scared. When I first rallied public opinion behind a ban on BART strikes, a labor leader accosted me in a restaurant and told me “you have sealed the nail in your coffin.”

But I’m not backing down, and neither should you. With your help, I will win my campaign for State Assembly and together we can solve this problem. I call it the BART Riders' Revenge.

The Los Angeles Times, Sacramento Bee, San Francisco Chronicle and Contra Costa Times have all written about my race, calling it one of the most hotly contested Assembly races in California.

It pits the independent outsider (me) against the most powerful special interests in the state. Usually the moneyed interests prevail. But the pundits smell an upset in the making because I have the background and broad community base (you) to get my message out.

The BART workers union has already pledged to do everything in their power to destroy my candidacy. They want to send a message to any other candidate in California with the courage to take an independent stand. I know I can prevail – with your help.

Will you pledge to support my campaign for State Assembly? There are so many ways to help – making a small donation, posting a yard sign, volunteering, holding a house party. If you can do any of these things, please click HERE to send me an email.

Anything you can do will make a difference.

Thanks so much for your support.

Looks to me with the exception of three Contra Costa County union whores, everyone else is A.C. He can't win. Numbers just don't bear it out.

I'm Alameda County and will be voting for Stever Glazer, who will take first place just because of his residency alone. Also the best qualified candidate.

You can't win without broad support of groups that provide walkers and phone bankers and Glazer doesn't have any. He might come in third but he will be far behind Tim Sbranti and the only woman and Republican in the race Baker.

Tim also has the current office holders support in Joan Buchanan who has won easily and has said she will help him. It's a slam dunk for Sbranti no matter what you keep posting. Joan Buchanan and Mark DeSaulnier are in Contra Costa as well as some of the others who are supporting Tim.

Not all people hate the unions as much as you do all the time in post after post. Joan Buchanan was elected how many times with union support. You name calling and sexist remarks won't help your candidate and makes you sound like a hater. Take a chill pill because your repetitive rants are getting boring.

Can't take reality, eh. News flash:

Tim wins both the primary and the general easily. He has conservative, moderate, and progressive support in both counties and the army of volunteers that's needed to win. Indeed he is the only one that does. It's obvious to anyone who's has an understanding of politics.

Your man lives in the wrong county. He is down and out.

Reality.

What do Lynn Leach, Guy Houston, and Joan Buchanan ALL have in common? Not their politics. Not their party affiliation. Not their endorsers. Whats that you say?

The answer that makes VICTORY an absolute and undeniable fact of life, written in stone.

They ALL were longtime CONTRA COSTA COUNTY RESIDENTS. This seat has always belonged to this county, not Alameda County, and this time will be no different. The strongest candidate from that county, and indeed at all, is Orinda Councilman Steve Glazer. The other all are blips on the screen at best.

He takes it. That is how politics is done in THIS Bay Area.

This is wet dreams 50.

If you believe the fantasy you've spun I've got two bridges and a coliseum to sell you.

And there is no drought in CA. What a screwy world of make believe you live in. Good thing that dreams don't come true.

The 2 top politicians that are meaningful in this District are Joan Buchanan and Mark DeSaulnier who are both from Contra Costa and have huge followings. They are both supporting Tim Sbranti. Your candidate doesn't have a chance 2:35.

Endorsements are worth about as much as what I use for asswipes. We know how that goes!

What do Tim Sbranti, Joan Buchanan, Susan Bonilla, Tom Torlakson and Mark DeSaulnier all have in common?

They all had the endorsements of Teachers, Nurses, Deputy Sheriffs, Labor Councils, Democratic party, etc. This gives them the phone bankers and precinct walkers they need to win. Your candidate will have very few endorsements and the hundreds of volunteers needed to win this campaign.

This is how it is in both Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Politics 1A and 1B the combined course.

Geography lesson:

Location + Democratic affiliation= Winner

Hence, Contra Costa County + Steve Glazer=Assemblyman for 16th AD.

All the union whore ass-wipes, er, endorsements, and Communist Party flacks can't put Branti together again. He's finished; he's done.

The reality of this being and staying a Contra Costa County seat.

Don't worry about 7:25, he is the same anti union troll who doesn't even live in the District. If he knew what he was talking about, he would be listened to by the rest of us. But he doesn't, so he's not. He's annoying because he's such a sexist and probably had mommy issues, but quite harmless. Most of us just laugh at his ramblings. Over the years most of his candidates have lost. He's kinda like the Tea Party type which is rapidly fading away and becoming less and less meaningful.

Thanks for the geography lesson, 7:25.

Spot on!

winner is Tim Sbranti
loser is antiunion Troll
whiner is Glazer

This is wet dreams 50.

Most of us just laugh at her ramblings. Over the years most of her candidates have lost. She's kind of like the radical ultra-liberal type, which is fading away and becoming less and less meaningful.

7:01 Wow, what a sexist you are! Talk about a neanderthal?

Remember a fellow named John Dutra and his endorsements?

Geography trumps all else every time.

Too many ignoramouses on this site who don't know up from down, as evidenced by the Branti whores.

You're the biggest ignoramus of all if you think your candidate can win in avery heavy Democratic district with out the support of the top Dems., teachers, nurses, police, fire, and the hundreds of walkers and phone bankers these groups bring to the table.

It's Tim Sbranti 1st and the Republican woman 2nd. Tim wins easily in the General. You must be smoking the good stuff if you really think otherwise.

Written like a true union whore.

Bottom line, sonny: This is a Contra Costa County seat. Always has been and that's not about to change even though you're crying for that to happen. Steve is the strongest Democrat, both in the county and at all.

History bears it out that you're wrong. Please, do us all a favor. Refrain from your idiotic union screed. Let the adults who have brains do the forecasting.

If you really believe your fantasy it's Wet Dreams 50 for you.

Well look the unintelligent anti union troll who knows nothing about politics or the top 2 voting system resorts to sexist name calling like a child when he's losing an argument.

It's been spelled out for you and it can't be dumbed down any further. Even you should be able to understand this:

Sbranti wins easily because he will have the Democratic Party and the teachers behind him. He will come in first among the 3 Dems and the only woman and Rep will come in a close second. The best your candidate can do will be a third place in the primary if he can beat the conservative Dem Arnerich. They split the anti union vote and both will be out of the General run-off. This is politics 101.

Agree with 9:37. Sbranti has too much support, money and volunteers. He comes in first and the woman comes in second. In the general run off Sbranti wins running away with the election.

Geography takes it.

Assemblyman Steve Glazer holds it for Contra Costa County.

The hundreds of walkers and volunteers that help Tim Sbranti plus the major Contra Costa endorsements helps Tim win easily.

This is wet dreams 50.

If you believe the fantasy you've spun I've got two bridges and a coliseum to sell you.

And there is no drought in CA. What a screwy world of make believe you live in. Good thing that dreams don't come true.

Sbranti wins easily because he will have the Democratic Party and the teachers behind him. He will come in first among the 3 Dems and the only woman and Rep will come in a close second. Tim Sbranti is backed by both of the top 2 politicians in the District who are both from Contra Costa County. They are both mentioned by you the antiunion sexist troll. They are Mark DeSaulnier, who will win Miller's seat , and Joan Buchanan. They both have large followings in the District and are heavily backing Tim Sbranti, not your candidate who has two chances (slim and slimmer). Sorry antiunion troll. You certainly seem to back losers! LOL

I agree with the 4:56 post from today and think most of the posts against Tim Sbranti are from the same anti-union troll. Tim comes in first easily in the June election and will face off against Baker. Tim wins the November election as the Democrats ( including Glazer) support him. That's how it plays out for anyone who understands Bay Area politics.

Geography is what rules the day.

Contra Costa County owns this seat. Can't seem to grasp reality.

Branti might win in Alameda County, which is about one fourth of the district. CCC takes the rest, with its best poised candidate Steve Glazer. Steve has endeared himself to the public--not the union whores--the PUBLIC. We know that that is hard for the union whores to grasp but it is reality. The public will be determining the winner, not the union whores.

Steve polled terrific when folks were told about how he fought for them during the BART strike. The public hasn't forgotten this and it resonates big time.

Anyway you do the math Alameda County comes up short. And that is as it should be. THIS IS AND WILL REMAIN A CONTRA COSTA COUNTY SEAT. So unless your flack is planning to move to CCC, I don't think so, he comes up either three or four in this race. Can't do better

Bottom line: Stays in CCC and the public are the winners, as it should be.

What do Tim Sbranti, Joan Buchanan, Susan Bonilla, Tom Torlakson and Mark DeSaulnier all have in common?

Anon 7:00, 7:06 You're the biggest ignoramus of all if you think your candidate can win in a very heavy Democratic district with out the support of the top Dems., teachers, nurses, police, fire, and the hundreds of walkers and phone bankers these groups bring to the table.

It's Tim Sbranti 1st and the Republican woman 2nd. Tim wins easily in the General. You must be smoking the good stuff if you really think otherwise. lol

Thank you to the person who wrote the following. Finally, some real logic and reality is expressed.

News flash: Tim Sbranti just got the endorsements of the Rossmoor Democrats and the Young Dems of Contra Costa. This goes with the teachers, nurses, police, fire, deputy sheriffs, Joan Buchanan, Mark Desaulnier, George Miller, Loni Hancock, Tom Torlackson, Susan Bonilla, etc.

Who does your man have? You---lmao ----you better start walking and ringing doorbells, although I should tell you tea party activists don't do to well door to door in Contra Costa or Alameda counties.

All union whores. Your point?

Endorsements are what John Dutra had going in to the state senate. They're also what I wipe my ass with.

Steve Glazer has the people, not the union whores. He's the PUBLIC'S candidate and not that of the special interests--union whores.

The public+geography=history. History is on Steve's side. Always has been and will continue to be a Contra Costa County seat.

Temper, temper, Space HO. You continue to shit in your bloomers.

12:38 in the wee small hours of the morning. We know you've got nobody to fuck.

Better try to take Politics 50--because everything else is way over your bra strap.

Well the sexist antiunion Troll sure has a Temper. If you stay on your meds it might help you think clearly. When you get this upset it means you think Tim Sbranti will win for sure. All your ranting and raving and calling people names won't help. It just shows people how unstable you are!

Glazer won't even get into the top two. It will be Tim Sbranti and the Republican woman, Baker (the only woman in the race.) Tim will have too many precinct walkers and volunteers plus money from police, fire, teachers and nurses to lose. He will also have both Glazer's and Arnerich's support in the general election.

It's not a Contra Costa seat even though they have a few more registered voters. It's a Democratic seat for sure though as more and more progressives make up the district. It's gone from Contra Costa to Alameda County to Contra Costa with Joan Buchanan. It will go back to Alameda again since Tim has all the major Contra Costa and Alameda Democrats lined up in support, including Joan Buchanan who is extremely popular in the district, and will most likely appear with him at campaign events and mail pieces.

Holy cow, somebody just destroyed the troll. I agree with most of the 2:09 post, live in Contra Costa and will walk and phone for Tim Sbranti. Yes I'm a supporter of teachers and believe that is a plus not a minus, as do many of my friends. Teachers are generally selfless individuals trying to help others and more should be in Sacramento.

All union whores. Your point?

Holy cow, everybody just destroyed the Space HO. We agree with 7:35, live in Contra Costa County and will walk and phone for Steve Glazer. Wouldn't support a union whore if our lives depended on it. Of, by and for the people--not the special interests who continue to suckle on the public tit and bleed the people dry. Steve Glazer is a good man who will do an outstanding job in the Assembly. He gets it. To that end, the union whores will have no choice but to salute him when he installed. Even then, they're in for a rude awakening.

Just as there is a drought, Steve will be turning off the tap that is the public tit.

Well the sexist antiunion Troll sure has a Temper. If you stay on your meds it might help you think clearly. When you get this upset it means you think Tim Sbranti will win for sure. All your ranting and raving and calling people names won't help. It just shows people how unstable you are!

Steve Glazer will only be supporting Steve Glazer. He doesn't whore for the unions the way that you and your shills do.

That along with geography ensure that it is Contra Costa County.

The salient point that goes over your head is that this seat belongs to the PUBLIC not the union whores. The public will be supporting Steve in droves since he is aligned with us on BART, can't be bought like Brantie, and is his own man. Not a stooge puppet like your boy.

History is on Steve's, and the public's, side.

All hail the fellow with ALL the endorsements, state senator John Dutra. Oh wait, now I remember, he got his clock cleaned like old Brantie will.

Of by and for the public, not the union whores!

Arnerich and Glazer will split the anti-union vote along with the Republican. Tim Sbranti will get plurality of votes because there are many more progressives in the District now and with Joan Buchanan and other popular electeds helping him along with a multitude of volunteers, he's a cinch to be in the runoff with the Republican woman.

Glazer and Arnerich will endorse Tim Sbranti in the General and it will be a lopsided victory for Tim since the district is now firmly in Democratic hands.

Guy Houston was from Dublin when he was elected. It really doesn't matter which County you are from, only how many volunteers you can get to help. The teachers alone can turn out hundreds. Teacher support still resonates well among all voters except for the anti-union one who has more than half the posts on this string.

Tim Sbranti Wins Vote for Democratic Party Endorsement
Near Unanimous Victory Awarded by AD 16 Party Delegates & Activists

Fairfield - Assembly candidate Tim Sbranti decisively won today's Democratic Party endorsement by receiving 97% of the vote.

"I want to start out by thanking everyone who took time out of their Sunday to participate in this process. This endorsement proves that the delegates and activists of this party care about the issues like I do, not political smoke and mirrors," said Mayor Tim Sbranti. "This is a victory not only for me, but for everyone who has dedicated their time and energy to this Assembly campaign."

Because Sbranti received over 70% of the vote from local democrats, the endorsement bypasses a caucus vote at the State Convention and instead is placed on the Consent Calendar, a non-controversial vote on March 9, 2014.

Those eligible to vote in today's caucus are the delegates to the California Delegate Party, representatives of a local democratic club or the members of the Alameda or Contra Costa County Democratic Parties who live in Assembly District 16.

The California Democratic Party joins a diverse group of individuals and organizations throwing their support behind Sbranti. The California Teachers Association, California Nurses Association, California Faculty Association, Alameda County Building Trades, and Deputy Sheriffs Association of Alameda County along with State Superintendent Tom Torlakson, Congressman Eric Swalwell and AD 16 Incumbent Assemblymember Joan Buchanan have all endorsed Sbranti. See a full list of endorsements on his website.

About Tim Sbranti: Dublin Mayor Tim Sbranti brings 15 years as a classroom teacher, 8 years as a statewide leader for public education and 10 years of public service to the City of Dublin and to his candidacy for the California State Assembly. Sbranti's well-rounded and broad dedication to public service puts him in a unique position to take on the challenges as a Member of the California State Legislature that few can duplicate.

Game over!

CLCV Endorses Tim Sbranti for Assembly

The Tim Sbranti for Assembly campaign continued to gain momentum today with an endorsement from the California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV). CLCV represents 30,000 members and has seven chapters across the state. Sbranti seeks to succeed Joan Buchanan who will finish her term at the end of this year, and also supports Sbranti.

“Good environmental policy starts at the local level. Tim Sbranti has been a leader on issues such as air quality management, creating green jobs and improving public transportation. We trust his smart instincts on environmental issues, and think he will be a great addition to the State Assembly,” said David Allgood, Political Director CLCV.

“Along with public education funding, environmental protection will be one of my top priorities in the State Assembly. The devastating drought our state currently faces illustrates the very real need for stronger conservation efforts throughout the State as well as efforts to educate the public on ways they can reduce their environmental impact. I look forward to tackling this and other pressing environmental issues in Sacramento,” said Sbranti.

It's obvious the above poster doesn't like the unions and is a hater. He also doesn't understand the top 2 election system in Ca. With all his endorsements and precinct walkers it will be Tim Sbranti and the Republican woman in a run-off in November. Tim Sbranti will win that easily because of the new make up of the District. He will get Glazer's endorsement in the Nov. election----you can bet your house on it.

As we overheard Chauncey and Edgar on BART talking about the Contra Costa County Assembly election:

Chauncey: Hey, Edgar? You going to be supporting our big-time union whore, Branti?

Edgar: What you mean, Chauncey?

Chauncey: Well, we unions are all bankrolling Branti. He's our dyed in wool union whore whom we're sending up to Sac. Town. He'll do right by us and continue lavishing all the bocu bucks on us.

Edgar: What about the public? That don't seem right to screw duh public over just so the fat cat unions can continue sucking on the public tit. That just aint right!

Chauncey: What the fuck do you care, ma! Aint you one of us? So what if we keep screwing over the public. They too dumb to know what we has been doing to dem like forever. Anyway, if it comes down to dem or us, you know where I is going.

Edgar: Yeah, I know. Guess I'm with you guys. If that clean Steve Glazer gets in he'll do right by the public and put an end to us union whores making off with the public's tax $$$$.

Chauncey: Hell, yeah. Mind you. If I wasn't up there in the union hierarchy getting all that free taxpayer money I'd sure be for clean Steve Glazer. He aint going to help out no special interests, especially big-time union whores like us. Damn, wish I could do right by the public, but I needs the money that I been pickin' out of the other guy's pocket like forever. [Wink of the eye!]

Edgar: You right, Chauncey. We got to do everything we can to get ol' Branti up there in Sac. Town to be our stooge. After all this time, I got me an allergy to work. Sides, I still got me a powerful taste for that mother's milk dat I been suckling off of the public tit like forever. [Wink, wink!]

Bitch can bet her hole on it.

Steve Glazer is ONLY supporting Steve Glazer.

You are such a dick!

Well folks you can see the sexist anti-union troll has lost it pretending to be someone else at anon 3:54. You really need professional help troll. It might help you get rid of your anger after Tim Sbranti is elected, if not before.

From April 7, 'SF Chronicle.' Thanks for printing the truth!

Gloves off: The bell just went off for this year's heavyweight BART labor battle.

Only instead of worker walkouts, this time the fight involves a political campaign - with labor coming out swinging in an East Bay Assembly race for Dublin Mayor Tim Sbranti over Orinda City Councilman Steve Glazer, whose big issue is banning BART strikes.

But the labor effort could backfire.

As The Chronicle's Carla Marinucci reported Wednesday, teachers unions, service employees and other labor groups have poured $335,000 into an independent campaign for Sbranti, who happens to be the past president of the California Teachers Association's political action committee.

Glazer certainly baited the bull, circulating petitions during BART workers' two strikes last year that called for banning public-transit employees from walking out.

In the past, a big union push would spell almost certain defeat for the targeted candidate - but maybe not this time.

A survey of 360 district voters in November by J. Moore Methods, commissioned by Glazer, found that 55 percent of those quizzed had an unfavorable opinion of public employee unions - and 77 percent looked unfavorably at BART unions.

I'm shocked that a poll commissioned by Glazer would support his opinion. I'm even more shocked that the Conservative Chron and Carla ( I hate unions) Marinucci would report that.

Here's the truth:

Arnerich and Glazer will split the anti-union vote along with the Republican. Tim Sbranti will get plurality of votes because there are many more progressives in the District now and with Joan Buchanan and other popular electeds helping him along with a multitude of volunteers, he's a cinch to be in the runoff with the Republican woman.

The 'real truth?' You mean your fantasyland version of the 'truth.'

Space HO, give it up. You and your union whores have burned the public one time too many. You trolls are finished.

Steve Glazer will be the Assemblyman of, by [not buy], and for the people. Not the special interests. Your day is gone. Go back to the trash heap of history where you and your cronies belong.

Oh, and the 'woman' has a name. Catherine Baker.

Stop disparaging the only female in this race, bitch. She will be Steve's opponent in Nov.

Thank you 11:38 for the real truth.

Clearly the antiunion sexist troll lives in his own dream world. It will be at best a third place finish for your candidate at best. Tim Sbranti and the Republican woman facing off in Nov.

Temper Temper Troll------Please don't cry after the June election.

Mrs. Miller and I will be supporting our outstanding Assemblyman Steve Glazer. We can't support novices who have no idea what they are doing and would be in above their head, Branti. We also would never support anyone who whores for the unions. The public knows that teachers and nurses' unions are nothing but whores for the special interests. They resonate with special interests only.

We'll be supporting a breath of fresh air, ASSEMBLYMAN STEVE GLAZER 2014!

Steve Glazer, if he doesn't best them in June, will be facing Catherine Baker in November.

Get ready, union whores, to stand up and salute your next assemblyman STEVE GLAZER!

With the latest $50,000 cash infusion, the campaign against the “wayward” Democrat has begun.

The ink was hardly dry on my column last week about campaign money and secret pledges when the American Federation of State, Municipal and County Employees union – focused on preserving pensions for its public sector members – contributed $50,000 of its members’ dues to defeat Mayor Steve Glazer of Orinda in Contra Costa County in his bid for the state Assembly’s 16th District.

Glazer has challenged candidates to renounce secrecy by publicly posting any private commitments made in responses to questionnaires submitted to any political action committee.

This $50,000 contribution boosts to $435,000 the coffers of the Californians for Economic Prosperity Committee, led by teachers unions, service employees and other labor groups. By the time the June primary is over, the committee will have raised millions – not including direct contributions from the California Labor Federation and other unions – to champion fellow Democrat Tim Sbranti over Glazer.

Sbranti until recently was on the payroll of the California Teachers Association, which opposes many education reforms and challenges to teacher seniority. That’s like electing the fox to guard the hen house when it comes to any meaningful debate on education reform in the next Legislature.

Glazer – like Sbranti – is a Democrat. His positions largely embrace the Democratic Party platform, including climate change, gay rights and reproductive rights. Glazer has even been a longtime political adviser to Gov. Jerry Brown.

But Glazer committed a mortal sin in the eyes of labor board executives, who play a big role in directing Democratic legislators how to vote. Reflective of a growing rift within the Democratic Party nationally, Glazer is an independent, reform Democrat who supports reining in runaway perks and privileges of public- sector unions.

He earned the wrath of the labor councils when he publicly supported curbing the right to strike by public transit workers after the BART strike last year. He angered labor federations when he helped elect more moderate, business-friendly Assembly Democrats in 2012. For that, he was placed on a “do not patronize” list.

Every Assembly seat is on the ballot this year. But efforts are being waged by unions and elected officials, through the Economic Prosperity Committee, to prevent any dissent from the labor-party line on pension reform, taxation and business regulation. There’s not even the pretense of a “big tent” for the Democratic Party.

With the latest $50,000 cash infusion, the campaign against the “wayward” Democrat has begun. Telephone calls are being made to voters, claiming that Glazer “worked for developers and companies like Chevron, PG&E and Monsanto” – corporate interests that typically do not poll well with Democrats. He did not. Ironically, the telephone scripts don’t reveal that their own guy has actually collected a few thousand dollars from these political interests!

Due to voter demographics, the newly elected Assembly member will most likely be a Democrat. As more independent-minded Democrats challenge the back-room deals and blind allegiance to public-sector unions, old-guard interests are tightening their choke hold on candidates they always assumed they controlled. The new imperative is to silence the messenger – like Glazer – so the message cannot be heard.

With the recent spate of corruption-related arrests of legislators, it is clear to voters that our democracy has been for sale for far too long. Taking back our government is in the voters’ hands now – throughout California.

Well the 8:31, 2:30 and 2:39 posts above are once again the very same foul-mouthed antiunion Troll who spews his venom against all working people all the time. Not to mention he is a caveman sexist Troll who gives in to his temper and hatred of working families on just about every article. Thank you for telling us who you support, so we can vote for someone else. Tim Sbranti for the rest of us because he's not sexist, supports working people and doesn't resort to foul language. I don't belong to a union but do support good wages and benefits for working families. Sbranti and Baker will be the top two. Glazer will support Sbranti---you can bet on it!

The Democratic Party alone can turn out hundreds.

Here's the most likely scenario.

Glazer and Arnerich will endorse Tim Sbranti in the General and it will be a lopsided victory for Tim since the district is now firmly in Democratic hands and Tim will have the most volunteers.

Wink, wink!!

Anti Union Troll....you seriously need to update your figures and try and keep your mental instability under control. I think you are finally starting to believe this scenario will take place.

Arnerich and Glazer will split the anti-union vote along with the Republican. Tim Sbranti will get plurality of votes because there are many more progressives in the District now and with Joan Buchanan and other popular electeds helping him along with a multitude of volunteers, he's a cinch to be in the runoff with the Republican woman Baker.

The Democratic Party alone can turn out hundreds.

We return you to reality:

You are assuming Glazer makes it to the top 2 in June. Most, except for the sexist anti-union Glazer troll, don't expect him to. The political scenario from analysts has the Republican, and only woman, Baker and Tim Sbranti in the run off. Tim has the Democratic Party with their hundreds of volunteers along with the teacher money. Tim wins the November election in a not so close race, with the other Dems. supporting him.

Not in the pocket of sexist anti-union trolls!

Here's what will happen in the 2014 elections according to political predictions in our District.

Glazer and Arnerich will endorse Tim Sbranti in the General and it will be a lopsided victory for Tim since the district is now firmly in Democratic hands and Tim will have the most volunteers.

Tim Sbranti will be the people's choice in June and November!

It's obvious the above poster doesn't like the unions and is a hater. He also doesn't understand the top 2 election system in Ca. With all his endorsements and precinct walkers it will be Tim Sbranti and the Republican woman Baker in a run-off in November. Tim Sbranti will win that easily because of the new make up of the District. He will get Glazer's endorsement in the Nov. election----you can bet your house on it.

No matter how outrageous the issue may be, you can count on Sbranti to vote exactly how the CTA tells him to.

Any measure to reform teacher discipline or evaluation, he will reject. Education spending makes up almost half the state budget and Sbranti will have a rubber-stamp vote on every single education issue.

From his own website, the following---
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Sbranti emerged as a statewide leader in education, particularly in his role as the Chair of the Political Involvement Committee of the California Teachers Association, one of California’s largest unions.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Would you elect a rubber stamp?
Actually on ANY labor issue, especially involving public employees, Sbranti is gonna be a rubber stamp.

Arnerich and Glazer will split the anti-union vote along with the Republican Baker. Tim Sbranti will get plurality of votes because there are many more progressives in the District now and with Joan Buchanan and other popular electeds helping him along with a multitude of volunteers, he's a cinch to be in the runoff with the Republican woman.

Glazer and Arnerich will endorse Tim Sbranti in the General and it will be a lopsided victory for Tim since the district is now firmly in Democratic hands and Tim will have the most volunteers.

Too bad for you, bitch.

Your whore doesn't make it. Glazer with the people takes it!

Holy cow, 8:35 you do definitely need help. I agree with most of the 12:35 post, live in Contra Costa and will walk and phone for Tim Sbranti. Yes I'm a supporter of teachers & nurses and believe that is a plus not a minus, as do many of my friends. Teachers and nurses are generally selfless individuals trying to help others and more should be in Sacramento. Most people aren't as far to the right as you are. Take a chill pill.

As the first poster correctly stated and we shall re-emphasize for your tiny brain to grasp:

Too bad for you, bitch.

Your whore doesn't make it. Glazer with the people takes it!

Dublin Mayor Tim Sbranti brings 15 years as a classroom teacher, 8 years as a statewide leader for public education and 10 years of public service to the City of Dublin and to his candidacy for the California State Assembly. Sbranti’s well-rounded and broad dedication to public service puts him in a unique position to take on the challenges as a Member of the California State Legislature that few can duplicate.

As the first poster correctly stated and we shall re-emphasize for your tiny brain to grasp:

Too bad for you, bitch.

Your whore doesn't make it. Glazer with the people takes it!

Or else telling the truth.

Way too little and too late.

People can't stand the stink that is him and his kind.

Anon 6:44 and 12:04 (same person) were another unintelligent posts by the Glazer supporter who can't even say anything good about his candidate. That's why most of us will be supporting Tim Sbranti. He is one who works towards compromise and has the support of moderates, independents, democrats, consumers, police, fire, nurses, teachers, environmentalists, seniors, women, and others who care about multiple issues that matter to voters and not just one issue like your candidate.

No matter how outrageous the issue may be, you can count on Sbranti to vote exactly how the CTA tells him to.

Talk about a rubber stamp:

Steve Glazer is a political consultant who was paid hundreds of thousands of dollars by a corporate interest group funded by tobacco companies, oil companies, real estate developers, pharmaceutical and insurance companies. If elected to to the state legislature Glazer would work to pass laws that benefit them and rubber stamp their issues.

Tim Sbranti in contrast, is a statewide leader in education, a classroom teacher and effective local leader. Under his fiscal leadership he transformed Dublin from a city suffering from serious budget deficits into a city with a budget surplus, without sacrificing major cuts to community services.

The choice is clear.... and the reason why Tim Sbranti will be our next Assemblyman.

Holy cow, 11:30 you do definitely need help. Sexist name calling gets you nowhere. I agree with most of the 2:37 post, live in Contra Costa and will walk and phone for Tim Sbranti. Thank you 'SF Chronicle' for choosing our next Assemblyman, CLEAN STEVE GLAZER 2014, the people's choice!

Steve Glazer obviously upset Sacramento's status quo. Organized labor groups already have spent nearly $1 million to deny the Orinda councilman election to the state Assembly seat that reaches from east of the Berkeley hills to the Tri-Valley. Their smear campaign against him has been as disingenuous as it is disgusting.

To a fair-minded voter, the unions' vehemence might seem oddly out of scale in view of the relatively minor policy differences between Glazer and labor's favorite in the race, Dublin Mayor Tim Sbranti, a longtime teacher and coach who once oversaw the California Teachers Association's political action committee.

There's no doubt that Sbranti would fit in just fine with the Democratic majority at the State Capitol. He's engaging, studied and resolutely party line.

Glazer is more the maverick who is willing to declare his independence when he sees the party veering from the public interest. One high-profile example was his campaign to prohibit BART strikes on the argument that mass transit is an essential public service and a matter of health and safety.

Another is his stated willingness to reform the California Environmental Quality Act to curb abuses that have nothing to do with protecting natural resources, such as labor unions using its legal tools to extract concessions or businesses trying to stymie competition.

Glazer also has refused to answer any questionnaires from groups that do not make their answers public. One of the dirty secrets of California politics is that special interests use these questionnaires to extract private pledges from candidates as a condition of endorsements and campaign contributions.

While Glazer won't play that game, Sbranti declined our request to see the questionnaires he has filled out.

Labor has made Glazer's defeat one of its 2014 priorities. It has flooded the district with volunteers and a social media campaign that has attempted to use his work as a consultant to a state Chamber of Commerce political action committee to link him, however flimsily, to Big Oil, Big Pharma, Big Tobacco and other poll-tested villains.

It doesn't wash.

In truth, Sbranti has received direct contributions from some of the very sources (Chevron, PG&E, home builders) that are being used against Glazer, who has served as an adviser to Gov. Jerry Brown at various points over more than three decades. The records of both Democrats make plain that neither is going to be a pawn of big business.

Catharine Baker, a Republican attorney, appears to have a solid chance of making the November runoff against one of the Democrats. She is clearly more deferential to business and further to the right than Glazer or Sbranti on guns, education reforms and social issues.

The third Democrat in the race, Danville Councilman Newell Arnerich, has been largely overshadowed in the proxy war over Glazer and Sbranti. Arnerich has an appealing grassroots pitch, but he lacks his fellow Democrats' experience in statewide politics.

Sacramento needs more strong, independent voices to challenge the dogma of the status quo. Glazer is our choice in the June 3 primary.

Sierra Club California Endorses Sbranti for Assembly

May 5, 2014 -The Tim Sbranti for Assembly campaign gained another valuable endorsement today from Sierra Club California. The 150,000 member environmental organization noted Sbranti’s strong environmental record in their baking of the Dublin Mayor and teacher.

“Tim Sbranti has an impressive record on environmental issues. He has been a leader in his region on clean energy, recycled water and LED conservation efforts. He will be a great addition to the State Assembly, and he has our support.” - Mike Daley, Executive Committee member, Sierra Club Mount Diablo Regional Group.

Have great respect for the Sierra Club, though every once and a while they get it wrong. Usually due to undo union whore influence.

This is one of those times.

And yet another endorsement for Tim:

The Livermore Independent recommends Tim Sbranti for District 16 in the State Assembly. His background in education and civic service would provide an experienced local voice at the state level.

The 16th Assembly District includes Alamo, Danville, Dublin, Lafayette, Livermore, Moraga, Orinda, Pleasanton, San Ramon, and Walnut Creek. Four candidates are seeking to replace Joan Buchanan. The primary election will be held June 3, 2014.

Newell Arnerich, Catharine Baker, Steve Glazer, and Tim Sbranti are on the ballot. The top two will be on the November 2014 ballot, regardless of party affiliation.

As the Mayor of Dublin, Sbranti has been pro business and pro labor. His pro environment stands will add to the quality of life for Dublin and the Tri-Valley. During his time in office, policies have brought businesses and jobs to Dublin. The city’s climate action plan, and his support of the current Open Space Initiative are examples of Sbranti being able to work for the betterment of all.

Sbranti stated that the business climate in the state could be improved through investment in infrastructure, such as BART to Livermore. He would not change environmental laws, rather he would put the focus on making bureaucracy more efficient. He points out that environmental laws have created jobs and enhanced the quality of life for people in the state.

He is opposed to the two tunnel system proposed by Governor Brown to carry water around the Delta, calling it bad for the environment, costly and providing no solution to the water problems.
As a teacher, Sbranti has gained understanding of the issues schools face and the importance of education to improving the economy.

His strong support of education has led the incumbent, Joan Buchanan, to endorse him.

Sbranti's experience in public service, both as mayor and a public educator, puts him in a solid position to take on the challenges facing schools, the environment, employment and business.

Heard the unions trash talk Steve Glazer on the radio this morning. They're really shitting in their pants; their guy will do about as well as HO-yashi!

Talk about trash talk.....2:29 you do definitely need help. Sexist name calling gets you nowhere. I agree with most of the 12:05 post, live in Contra Costa and will walk and phone for Tim Sbranti. This doesn't make him sound like a breath of fresh air. Glazer sounds like a dirty politician.

We believe that teachers belong in the classroom. To that end, we will be voting for clean STEVE GLAZER 2014. The future assemblyman knows that, too. We all need to send Steve to Sacramento and his opponent back to the classroom, where he belongs.

Teachers have no business in the capital; that's the place for qualified legislators. Teachers belong in the classroom, implementing the policy that the qualified legislators have passed.

Let's all do our part by supporting clean STEVE GLAZER 2014! He's the PEOPLE'S CHOICE candidate!

Looks to most of us the people's choice is Tim Sbranti, since he has more backing from diverse groups of voters.

Most of us will not be supporting Tim Branti. He is one who whores and has the support the union whores, and others who are sluts for the entrenched union bosses.

Assemblyman Steve Glazer is the people's choice 2014!

Most of us will be supporting Tim Sbranti. That guy Branti is bought and paid for by the corrupt special interest union whores. He's the dirty unions choice in 2014!

Why the hell would anyone put that crooked fox in the hen house? He'll bankrupt CA and give it all away to the union whores, who are supporting him and continue screwing the rest of us.

That's why my family voted for CLEAN STEVE GLAZER 2014. Steve has done amazing things in his city to bring people together on issues, rather than tear them apart like Branti. That's why Steve is supported by just about all the consumer groups, senior groups, environmental groups, etc.

Clean is not a name for Glazer. Glazer is not clean at all. Looks like the anti-union sexist troll is posting for the corporate lap dog Glazer again. This doesn't make him sound like a breath of fresh air. Glazer sounds like a dirty politician.

Steve Glazer is a political consultant who was paid hundreds of thousands of dollars by a corporate interest group funded by tobacco companies, oil companies, real estate developers, pharmaceutical and insurance companies. Hope the Glazer troll doesn't cry when he reads this? Better yet read Tim Sbranti's website and you will see that Tim not your candidate is supported by consumer groups, senior groups, environmental groups like the Sierra Club, etc.

LIES! LIES! LIES!

I see the the shill is trying to directly link oil and tobacco companies to Glazer, rather than being paid as a consultant by JobsPAC. If you only would have gone 1-2 degrees further - you could say Glazer tax dollars are paying public unions - which are funding Sbranti's war chest. So you see, oil & tobacco are funding Sbranti's campaign!

Of course, I don't see any effort to dig into Sbranti's political donation history before he became the unions' darling. If the shill did, he might have mentioned Sbranti's donations from PG&E and 3 donations from Chevron.

The shill might have even mentioned the disgusting push polling tactics supporters of Sbranti are conducting in AD16 - a race & class baiting tactic straight out of the Republican playbook on how to manipulate low information voters in southern states.

Now let's see how well that tactic works in AD16 - with Orinda, Lafayette, Moraga, Walnut Creek, Alamo, Danville, Blackhawk, San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton and Livermore - the voters are not exactly low-information, and might actually care about where their tax dollars go.

Oh, and it's only odd that the author did not mention any of this with the assumption the shill himself did in fact write this hit piece and not the Sbranti campaign - which in that case its totally understandable!

Get ready to cry Tuesday night, union whores, when your stooge goes down to defeat bigtime. Will be CLEAN STEVE GLAZER 2014 v. Catharine Baker. Either way, seat stays in Contra Costa County!

Most of us will be supporting Tim Sbranti. He is one who works towards compromise and has the support of moderates, independents, democrats, consumers, police, fire, nurses, teachers, environmentalists, seniors, women, and others who care about multiple issues that matter to voters and not just one issue like your candidate.

If you can say it twice, so can I.

Let's all do our part by supporting clean STEVE GLAZER 2014! He's the PEOPLE'S CHOICE candidate!
