President Obama Endorses Swalwell

CONGRESS | 15TH DISTRICT | President Barack Obama endorsed first-term East Bay Rep. Eric Swalwell Monday in advance of the June 3 primary matchup against State Senate Majority Ellen Corbett in the 15th Congressional District.

“Since day one, Eric has shown unwavering dedication to the needs of his constituents — helping veterans secure the benefits they’ve earned, protecting seniors, and ensuring women receive equal pay for equal work,” said Obama in a statement released by the Swalwell's campaign. “I enthusiastically support Eric Swalwell’s reelection to Congress so the East Bay can continue to move forward.”

Obama's endorsement could be followed this weekend by the official backing of the state Democratic Party at their convention in Los Angeles starting Friday. Swalwell failed to win enough support at a pre-endorsement meeting last month in Hayward, but garnered a clear majority.

  2. Corbett needs to call Gov Brown and beg for an appointment. Come Sunday, Swalwell will have the Democratic Party endorsement as well as the head of the Democratic Party - our President. Unless Swalwell commits a crime, he will be re-elected.

  3. Common sense and infinite humility, from the president of the United States.

There was never any doubt. Our great congressman is extremely well-deserving!

  4. Corbett is going to loose. Sorry is just a fact.

  5. I know my family will still vote for Ellen Corbett, as we have for her two elections to the Senate. You Swalwell staffers can keep posting your comments all you want, but it will not change our minds.

What the Federal or State Dems do is of no concern to us locals. We see Swalwell make mistake after mistake, tell lie after lie, and take money from companies that stick it to the middle class and lower class. It's Ellen Corbett for us.

  6. Too bad the most ardent Dems aren't too endeared with the POTUS. Doesn't change the fact Swalwell doesn't reflect the majority of democrats in the district

  7. Swalwell, like Honda, are in trouble. Enter the party's help.

  8. Who's running against CONGRESSMAN ERIC SWALWELL. The answer is NOT ANYONE!

She doesn't have the money or the ground troops to take on an
incumbent congressman who does have those two. She's not one to
go on a suicide mission as she's only somewhat foolish. She has better
things to do with her time as she has told others.

Looks like CONGRESSMAN ERIC SWALWELL will be our congressman for a long, long time to come.
He'll be re-elected in a landslide if anyone even dares torun against him.

Keep ranting, union whore, sexist and racist bitch. If you want someone to run against our beloved congressman you better come up with millions of dollars or run yourself. I'd love to vote against you and the extreme ultra-liberal, union whore views you adhere to. LAYFA!

At least now bitch can bake some cookies. That's a good thing!

  9. The majority of the voters are in Ellen Corbett's Senatorial District or her old Assembly District. That's why Swalwell staffers constantly post on the Citizen. They are scared of losing their jobs. Ellen is very popular in the 15th and will win in November. I predict with 54% of the vote. Ask your candidate to release his internal poll he took. He won't and he hasn't released it because it shows him losing a close race.

  10. Stick to the topic, Whorbett bitch.

We thank the POTUS for saying what all of us already know. Our great congressman will be back for the 2014-16 session and will do even more good things for the district.

From Barack Obama to everyone in the 15th, we're with you Eric!

  11. Many believe Ralph Farias is the one who has all those sexist, foul mouthed anti-union posts on this blog.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Who is Ralph Farias and what is potus?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Ralph Farias is a candidate who has run for City Council in Hayward and has been soundly beaten and rejected by the voters every time he has run for office.

POTUS stands for president of the united states.

We all know Ellen Corbett is running against Eric Swalwell and I agree with the posters above who say local voters will decide, not people who live outside the district. Only local endorsements might matter somewhat, if at all.

  14. Wow, a POTUS endorsement. That might actually cause the voters who put our current congressman in office to stay home or not vote for Swalwell this time.

I also would like to know what the poll showed and why it hasn't been released. It must make him look real bad with Ellen Corbett winning. That could explain the desperation and name calling from his staffers and supporters.

Many of the people in my area like Ellen more than they do Eric and this could be an upset to the outsiders, but an expected Ellen Corbett win to the local residents.

  15. By MW:

While I would probably lean slightly toward Swalwell in a contest against Corbett, however regardless my main opinion in any contest between Swalwell and Corbett would be: DOESN'T OBAMA HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO , AND SUCH AS FOR INSTANCE RUN THE ENTIRE UNIITED STATES, than concern himself with a battle between the type of demagogues, charlatans,, clowns, and two cent jokers who comprise East By politics!!!

So if in the future we should possibly have a contest between Nadia Lockyer and May Hayashi, will Obama a]so ignore what is going on in Washington DC to offer us his "wisdom" in which local clown we should vote for.

  16. If the president of the US if for you, that's good enough for us.

    Good deal, Eric!

  17. Thank you, Mr. President.

Every loyal Democrat will be following your lead. We will return our great congressman Eric Swalwell to help you do the work of the country.

    We're all with you!

  18. The last 2 posts were obviously Swalwell staffers who are panicking because Swalwell isn't as popular at home as Ellen Corbett. Basically, we trust Ellen more than the flip-flopper.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Thank you, pres. You got it right, and every true Democrat will follow your lead.

  20. Just yesterday another progressive organization expressed their disappointment in POTUS. His endorsement doesn't carry that much weight in a district like this one.

    ReplyDelete
  21. He's YOUR president!

  22. I see the post at 7:52 by the troll. You must be panicking too just like the Swallwell staffers who have most of the posts on this string. Your congressman is corrupt and most of us who aren't trolls and staffers are happy the ebcitizen is calling him on it. Will not vote for Swallwell again-------it's Ellen Corbett "the clean candidate" for us this year

  23. Potus doesn't matter to local voters as much as articles like the Citizens "Swalwell's Pay To Hire Problem" on Tuesday or Swalwell voting to cut off unemployment benefits to 1.7 million Americans including 200,000 veterans and then taking his pay after saying he wouldn't. District voters will vote for Ellen Corbett because this congressman has no feeling for the 95% of us who aren't rich.

    ReplyDelete
  24. All TRUE Democrats will follow the president's lead.

No room for any deviation or equivocation.

    ReplyDelete
  25. True Dems. don't follow anyone's lead. We are the real independents. The Republicans are the lemmings who follow their leader off the cliff.

  26. President speaks for all TRUE Democrats.

Now do as you are told, ho.

    Over and out.

  30. Mrs. Miller and I will be supporting our outstanding congressman Eric Swalwell. We can't support novices who have no idea what they are doing and would be in above their head, Ms. Corbett. We also would never support anyone who whores for the unions.

We'll be supporting a breath of fresh air, CONGRESSMAN ERIC SWALWELL 2014!

  31. The Statewide Labor endorsement is a huge one for Ellen Corbett. It carries more weight in this State than potus. It almost assures her a win in the primary. The question is who will come in number two? Our current two faced Congressman or the Republican.
