Just a month into Berkeley Councilmember Ben Bartlett's campaign for the 15th Assembly District, he has gained one of its plum endorsements, Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguín.

“California needs leaders with the vision, courage and experience to tackle the challenges facing our state. Ben Bartlett is the real deal,” Arreguín said on Wednesday.

“On the Berkeley City Council, Ben has led the fight against the Trump Administration and for the basic needs and rights of all people. Ben Bartlett is deeply committed to ensuring that everyone in the East Bay has a home. I’m excited to offer him my support in his campaign for State Assembly."

Bartlett joined the already large primary field in late August and was the ninth candidate to file an intent to replace Assemblymember Tony Thurmond, who himself, is running next year for state superintendent of public instruction.

Bartlett was elected to the Berkeley City Council's District 3 seat last November in a three-candidate race.

Arreguin's endorsement points to several positives for Bartlett's early campaign. Arreguin is a popular mayor in one the assembly district's main power centers and is also signal to its Latino population.

But more importantly, Bartlett has way to go before he is close to equal footing on the fundraising front with at least four of his opponents. Political consultant Buffy Wicks already has over $200,000 in her coffers, according to mid-year finance reports.

In addition, Oakland Councilmember Dan Kalb, East Bay MUD Board Director Andy Katz and Richmond Councilmember Jovanka Beckles have all raised a minimum of $50,000 each.

While I had never even heard of Ben Bartlett until one minute ago, in other words from reading this article, however if he has the backing of Jesse Arreguin, and who in addition to all of his other wonderful attributes, is even the mayor of Berserkely, that is more than good enough for me.

And if Bartlett does end up in the State Assembly, will he, and just like all of the rest of the braindead robots and stooges already there, and who call themselves Democrats, be nothing more than one more yes man and puppet on a string for the Party leadership!!!!
