Like many of the professional sports franchises in the East Bay, Oakland Coliseum Joint Powers Authority Executive Director Scott McKibben is skipping town.

McKibben, a former East Bay newspaper publisher and CEO of the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, will be named executive director of the Santa Clara Stadium Authority, which runs Levi's Stadium.

UPDATE: On his way to Santa Clara, Coliseum JPA retains CEO

Since being hired by the Coliseum JPA in February 2015, during McKibben's tenure the Oakland Raiders announced their intention to move to Las Vegas.

However, McKibben was lauded for negotiating a lucrative short-term lease with the team intended to bridge the gap between the team's last years in Oakland and its eventually move to a new stadium in Nevada.

Prior to McKibben's hiring at the Coliseum JPA, former Tri-Valley Assemblymember Guy Houston was a front-runner for the position.
